Interesting Sanksrit Verses

ajaa-yuddham rishi-shraaddham

prabhaathe megha-dambaram /

dampathyoh kalahashchaiva

parinaame na kimchana //



ajaa-yuddham - the fight between two she-goats

rishi-shraaddham - the sraaddha ceremony conducted by a rishi.

prabhaathe megha-dambaram - thundering of clouds in the morning

dampathyoh kalahah - a couple's quarrel

parinaame - in the end

na kimchana - nothing




Verse 2

kaaka yaachakayor madhye

varam kaako na yaachakah /



kaaka aahwayathe kaakaan

yaachako nathu yaachakaan //



Between the crow and the beggar,the crow is better.The crow invites other crows but the beggar does not invite any other beggar (when some food is given to him.)



Verse 3

Kshane rushtaah kshane tushtaah rushtaah tushtaah kshane kshane

Avyavasthitha chttaanaam prasaadah api bhayankarah

Meaning
Angry one moment content another changing moods every so often,
Even favours from such is frightening

Verse 4

Aham Bharathi stree swayam sakthi roopaa
Mayi sreescha durgaa thathaa Saaradaa cha
Thyajeyam kaachid na seelaa abhimaanam
Virodham thu siddhaa ahamanyaayaroopi

These are the qualities of an Indian woman. She is the embodiment of strength (in the family emotionally.) She is considered as wealth, the one who protects the family, educates the family.She always leads a noble life,.protects her self respect.She stands up against all injustices

Verse 5

Anaagathavidhaathaa cha pratyutpannamathih thathaa
dwaavethau sukhamedhethe yadbhavishyo vinasyathi

He who prepares himself for impending trouble will be able to face it when encountered. He who leaves everything to fate (doing nothing and assuming he would die or survive based on fate) will be destroyed --- Chanakyanithi 13.6

Verse 6

Bhagavat Gita -

Yogastaha Kuru karmani

It is emphasized in the Bagavad Gita that a calm and detached mind can turn out wonderful and great work

Verse 7

Na nirmithaa kena na drushta poorva
Na srooyathe hemamayee kurangii
Thathaapi trushnaa Raghunandanasya
Vinaasa kaale vipareetha budhi

It was never built before. None had seen it before.Not even heard of a golden deer.Still it drew the attention of a person like Sree Rama. It's true when they say"when a calamity is about to fall on you, you tend to over-use your intelligence"

Verse 8

Angam galitham, palitham mundam, dasana vihiitham jaatam tundam
Vrudho yaathi grahiitwaa dandam, tadapi na munchathi aashaa pindam

The body has decayed, the head greyed, (the teeth have all fallen)..the mouth has become incapable of biting/chewing. The old man walks holding a stick (he/she is incapable of walking without a support). Yet he/she does not let go of his/her DESIRES

Verse 9

Svakaramana tam abhyarcya siddhim vindati manavah

Whatever his caste if a man performs his hereditary work in a spirit of dedication to Isvara he will become liberated
